After the World Series of Poker summer hiatus, the British tournament circuit ground back into action this weekend with the latest leg of the Genting Poker Series. 297 players were on hand for the Newcastle leg of the tour and after three days of action it was Tim Chung.
- Tim Chung took his live tournament winnings past the $400,000 barrier by winning the inaugural DTD 1000 event at Dusk Till Dawn. Chung won the £550 MPN Poker Tour Manchester Main Event for £.

Tim Chung added another live poker title to his already impressive CV when he topped a field of 455-entries in the inaugural UKPR Championship held at Aspers Stratford Casino.
The brainchild of Shaun Johnston, owner of the UK Poker Room Facebook group, one of the biggest and busiest for UK players, the UKPR Championship cost £340 to enter and boasted of a £100,000 guarantee on the prize pool. The 455-strong field created a £135,135 prize pool that was shared among the top 45 finishers, a min-cash weighing in at £750 and a final table appearance boosting this prize to £2,830.

Brazilian Danilo Sato ran out of steam in ninth-place to secure a £2,830 payout for his £340 investment and he was joined on the sidelines shortly after by Loren Boci who collected £3,780, his third-largest cash of his career.
Seventh-place and £4,720 made its way to Michael Isiguzo before David Charlambous lost his stack and busted in sixth-place for a £5,670 cash, the second-largest of his live poker tournament hauls.
The final five players decided to pause the tournament’s clock and discuss a deal. That deal was agreed up after some brief negotiations, a deal based on ICM that left an additional £7,735 for the eventual champion.
Krzysztof Jaromin would receive no further money than the £13,940 he agreed upon as he fell in fifth-place. It has been quite a couple of months for Jaromin because he finished fifth in a Grosvenor Poker 25/25 Series event in London for £13,000 on Feb. 21.

Mohammed Ulla crashed out in fourth-place and took home £14,570, beating his previous largest live poker tournament cash by almost £10,000. Ulla was joined on the rail by Aspers Stratford regular Egidijus Alsauskas whose third-place banked him £13,090.

Heads-up saw Rafiq Blue, another familiar face at Aspers, take on Tim Chung in a battle for the extra £7,735 set aside for the winner. Unfortunately for Blue, Chung’s experience shone through and Blue busted in second-place for £15,860, multiplying his lifetime winnings by almost 2.5 times.
The £20,830 won by Chung was the 13th five-figure prize of his career to date and his first recorded cash of 2019; it was also Chung’s sixth outright victory. Chung’s largest cash was for £76,500, his reward for winning the DTD 1000 event at Dusk Till Dawn in Aug. 2017.
